M&S Royal Jubilee treats

It's amazing how a little bit of sun just lifts the
spirits isn't it?
There were lots of 'pink bits' on the train and tube
this morning.....ow!
Hope it's sunny next week too for the Jubilee celebrations.
These are all on my shopping list from M&S

A new crown fit for a Queen

Large-haired eldest always surprises us with last minute
requirements for school.
Yesterday morning (5 mins before leaving) he announced he needed
wire, fairy lights, foil and purple fabric.
Well look what he brought home!
It's a tight fit (cheese family have large heads)
but it glows beautifully.
*nudges Her Maj and advises she wears safety goggles
as it might have her eye out*

Tell me why I don't like mondays

This week I shall be mostly having a chest infection!
As if the house of Cheese hadn't had enough snot via Large-haired eldest's coughing/choking virus - now in it's 10th week.
I have taken to my bed and am feeling like poo!
(actually I look a lot like it too).
Fluffy Youngest has her week long school trip to France coming up.

I'm already finding her little notes dotted around the house.  'These are my monday clothes, please do NOT move',  'Pile to be packed' and my favourite attached to the combination lock on her suitcase 'the number of this code is 461 - in case of emergency!'  She's packing her hair-straighteners and I'm already envisaging the school calling to say the Chateau has burnt down due to her leaving them on whilst they trudge around trenches.  I have a week of notes and packing and unpacking coming up! My eldest has given her some shopping tips (you'll remember his amazing watch/chav hat combo from his trip last year).  I have filled their short lives with, what I consider, tasteful wooden toys, and beautifully designed knicks and knacks - if she comes home with a hat with 2 cans attached to drinking straws - then I'm moving into the shed!

SENT FROM MY SICK BED!

Hello.........

I'm still here!
Sorry for lack of posts.
Too much snot, wheeze, aches, pains and general crap.
I'll be catching up on all your blogs with a cup of tea now.
Enjoy the sunshine - he's made a welcome return.

Hooray!!!!

Paul Thurlby

I love Paul Thurlby's illustrations and prints.
He has teamed up with art director Ruan Milborrow at mr.h
for The French Tourist Board in the UK to produce
these Jaques Tati-inspired posters encouraging us to
visit France on our jolly holidays this year.
They are just wonderful

WORRY!

My large-haired eldest has been suffering with a hideous cough for the last 4 weeks.
On thursday, however, things took a terrible turn for the worse.
He started choking.
It was so terrifying.
We ended up in A&E and were told that he had an infection and possibly a cyst on his larynx.
The poor boy has 2 inhalers, anti-histamine and an asthma drug daily and also carries an epi-pen.
This week he'll be off school.
Can't play football and will be in hospital for horrid procedure.
Every time he coughs I freeze and wait for him to breathe.
All doesn't seem fair!

I'll be filling my worry time looking for nice things on the interweb as a distraction!

LIVERPOOL ♥ LOVE

Twenty seven (really??) years ago I moved to Liverpool to do
my degree in graphic design.
It was here I met my husband, some of my closest friends, had the time of my life, had the most beautiful view of the Anglican Cathederal from my bedroom window, learned to love The Smiths and how to drink beer like the boys!
Last weekend we traveled up to Chester and Liverpool. Large-haired eldest is an Everton supporter so he went to his first Goodison match (they won-hooray!). We took the cheeslets on a speedy trip around our old haunts, including the bombed out church, The Philharmonic, Hope Street, Gambier Terrace, Ye Crack, Catherine Street, The Tabac and The Bluecoat.
Thank you Liverpool for retaining your wonderful charm and humour and for being one of the most beautiful cities I have ever seen.

He's got a ticket to ride.........

On our way back from Chester today we saw this rather
dapper little furry chap on the back of a motorbike.
Check out those cool glasses!

Can't resist these beauties by the wonderful Donna Wilson.
Don't think I'd have the heart to eat them though.
Too too lovely!

where did the time go?

Sorry it seems to be wednesday already!

Don't seem to have enough hours in the day to do everything.
Work, children's activities, work, appointments, work.....etc etc.

Treated myself to a wasp sting this morning, which was nice.
Fluffy youngest is off with an ear infection.
Large-haired eldest is going for physio on his dodgy knee today.
Had a big crying week last week and have struggled to get over it.
All too much!
The hospital phoned yesterday to say the masectomy operation is imminent
(I'll probably hear in the next few weeks).........YIKES!
There's too much going on here at Cheese Towers
and I need to take time out!

Promise normal service will resume shortly...........

weekend walk

Saturday proved to be bright and sunny, so we decided to go
for a bracing trot around College Lake near Tring.
The lake was full and bursting with beautiful birds.
A lovely few hours spent appreciating the nature which surrounds us.
(glad we didn't decide to go out today - filthy weather and a freaky snow storm)
